My love for songwriters began more than 30 years ago at my very first writer round in Ft. Payne, Alabama during the group Alabama’s annual June Jam week. One night they hosted a songwriter show featuring Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, Jeff Cook, along with legendary writers Frank Myers, Dean Dillon, and Ronnie Rogers. I was completely mesmerized and in awe of the craft. Until that night, I had never really thought about the fact that the artists we hear on the radio aren’t always the ones who write the songs. Hearing the stories behind the music and the writers performing them the way they were originally written opened up a whole new world for me.

 

Over the years I made it a point to seek out songwriter events whenever I could, attending festivals like the Palm Coast Songwriters Festival, Tin Pan South in Nashville, and countless writer rounds at iconic venues like 3rd & Lindsley, Z's Music Room and The Listening Room. Then in 2023, while attending the Palm Coast Songwriters Festival, I couldn’t get the idea out of my head; I knew I had to bring this experience home to Southern Indiana. With a little coaxing from a friend, before we even left Florida I had the name, a logo, a venue, and my first songwriters booked. The rest, as they say,  is history.
